Dr. John Martin's cabin, Longview, stood on the hill overlooking the
Matamoras Cemetery. He and his wife, Amelia, used it as a summer cottage,
to entertain friends and to "get away from the hub-bub" of Matamoras during
the teens and '20's.

Taken from Cemetery Hill, this view of Matamoras village shows the length
of Grandview Island before the dams were built. Also notice the oil derricks.
This was probably a circa 1910 picture.

A view of Matamoras, probably taken from Duncan's Hill (formerly known as
Stover's Hill.) Main Street is in the center, to the right is Broadway
with many vacant lots. Probably a 1910 picture.

This early Matamoras picture, taken in 1912 or before, is a view from the intersection of Main and Front streets.  The building on the corner, with the door on the corner, is the Peoples Savings Bank.  Another business shared the other half of the building.  The second building is Fred Wermuth's Watch and Jewelry Store, with the handsome watch advertising sign.
