The first five years of a child's life set the foundation for, and influence the future success in school and life. Because parents are the child's first and most important teachers, it is vital that parents and educators work together effectively. School and community must understand the areas and stages of human development and how the interaction of the family, in all its various forms, affects this development. We, as educators, share the responsibility with the community for nurturing those forces which develop and strengthen family life.
Our Early Childhood program, staffed by qualified personnel, strives to provide a comprehensive and holistic preschool experience, designed to enhance each child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive/linguistic growth. This is achieved through a team approach including parents, teachers, and others.
A positive self-image is developed to a great degree during the preschool period and is a basic ingredient in educational success. Multicultural experiences and individually appropriate equipment, materials, and activities are provided for children to develop their self-esteem and to celebrate diversity. Individual needs are met so that children are safe and secure.
child-centered environment offers opportunites for indoor and outdoor exploration
as well as quiet and active play. Child-selected or teacher selected
activities may occur individually or in groups. Children learn as
they investigate, manipulate, and experiement with materials through play.
This environment provides intellectual stimulation, as well as social,
emotional, physical, and language development. Above all, preschool
experiences are designed to be thought provoking, open-ended, and fun!
It is our goal to help each child recognize that he or she is a special
person, and to encourage each child to grow and develop as a unique individual
within a nurturing, loving environment. It is also our goal to provide
each child with opportunities for learning to work and play with others
and for developing friendships. Another goal is to create opportunities
for each child to explore and play with a variety of materials through
many different activities, and to promote each child's creativity through
music, art, and dramatic experiences. Finally, our goal is to help
each child develop responsibility and self-help skills, and to assist each
child in learning to share, cooperate, and socialize with others.
