What is WIC?

To contact us:

WIC is a free program for Women, Infants, and Children that helps families who have nutritional needs.  In doing so, WIC prevents more serious medical problems caused by poor nutrition.

WIC screens potential participants to see if they have nutritional problems.  If they do, WIC provides special supplemental food, including milk, cheese, eggs, juice, cereal, peanut butter, beans, infant formula, infant juice, and infant cereal for their families.  The program is funded by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.

WIC is a service for low income families, but it is not a welfare program.  Most WIC participants work, yet are still able to qualify for WIC services based on their incomes.

Benefits of WIC

WIC participants receive:

Free health and nutrition screening.

Supplemental food, like milk, juice, cereal, cheese, peanut butter, beans, and eggs.  You get the food as long as you are eligible.

Free nutrition education; choose from several classes offered monthly or every few months.

WIC also refers you to clinics where you can get immunizations and medical care for your child.

WIC is an equal opportunity program. The program is operated in accordance with the US Department of Agriculture policy which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, age, disability, religion, or national origin.
