With the completion of the railroad to Athens in the Summer of 1870, productivity increased in the area's coal towns. Miner coal camps popped up along the rail, including Floodwood in 1871. Located just above Glen Ebon Road (County Road 4), Floodwood had two mines. All that remains today is a series of railroad trestles near mile 14. |
