Our Steering Committee met.  The ILGARD LeAx scanning and indexing
project is about halfway completed.  The front side of the Athens
County Highway map is ready for review; and the back side will be
completed during the time of reviewing the front side.  A contract
for development of the Athens County Engineer's Operations website is
being processed.  ILGARD is doing a project for the Tuppers Plains
Water District that will geo-reference some ODOT US 33 photos to our
orthophotos.  Darren gave a demonstration of our GIS to Mike Hass,
GIS Program Coordinator and Instructor for the new Hocking College
GIS Program.  Mike will set up a field trip for his class to come to
ILGARD to look over the details of our GIS.  Mike will also set up
trips to see the Health Department GIS and E-911 On-screen mapping
product.  Ken invited Mike to come see the Auditor's GIS as well.
Howard Fokes reported on the Campus-wide Utilities project, the Ohio
University Master Plan and their Facilities website.  Ric Abel asked
for a meeting on the City of Athens GIS - I will set it up.
The Honors Ecology class at Athens High School is interested in
establishing a GIS Program; Darren and I will meet with them to see
how we may assist them.  John reported on the County Engineer projects
of recovering the old One-Mile Section Corner Stone Monuments,
scanning the old road surveys, and scanning the old property maps and
surveys.  Chuck Hart is continuing to establish support and funding
for a campus-wide GIS.
 
Our GIS Technical Users Committee met.  The County Engineer's Office
will install ArcGIS 9.1 on John Branner's computer.  JB and Darren
will assist as needed.  I will provide a hardware key and the
software, as well as an ESRI authorization code contact.  ILGARD will
assist Chuck Hart in the Campus-wide GIS effort.  Darren will work to
establish a "Conversion to ArcGIS class" for our ArcView 3.x users to
convert to ArcView 9.x.  We will consider setting up an ESRI Studio
Session to assist us in migrating to ArcSDE.
 
We presented our GIS to officials from the Washington County Auditor's
and Engineer's Offices.  Washington County recently completed their
parcel layer.  We will offer assistance as needed at any time to
Washington County.
 
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held November 17, 2005
at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.  Our next GIS Technical
User's Committee meeting will be held October 20, 2005 at 10:00 A.M.
in the ILGARD conference room.
