                                    RE: Monthly GIS Progress Report
Commissioners:
 
ILGARD has made a proposal to the County Auditor to develop a proposal
to create a website that will allow on-line users access to the full
CAMA database.  This proposed project is broken down into two parts:
The first part is database programming which will retrieve and
distribute the CAMA data from the RE407 data dump into a SQL
database.  This process will be automated to run nightly (or however
frequently chosen).  Hopefully, the same table structure will remain
when the Auditors office converts to CLT OS 4.0.
 
The second part of the project deals with web design.  The web design
would serve as a front page for the Auditor as well as a data
retrieval port for the CAMA data.  The design would obtain and display
the records chosen by the user.  This concept was presented at the
GIS Steering Committee meeting.
 
ILGARD also presented our new "Download Page" for our GIS Website
listing all locally available data sets for others use.
This is now an available option on our ArcIMS website.
 
The County Engineer driveway/parking lot project (a portion of the
East State Street widening project) is nearing completion.  Visitors
to the Office enter at the same location as before but exit down and
behind the Office and take East Park Drive up to a vehicle-actuated
traffic signal at East State Street.
 
Ohio University Facilities Management is working with ILGARD on a new
Utilities Website.
 
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be November 20th
at 10:00 A.M., in the ILGARD conference room.
 
Attached is an article presented in the
April-June 2002 issue of ESRI ArcUser magazine, documenting how
improved land records can lead to palpable improvements in the
quality of life.
