Our Enterprise GIS Steering Committee met:
 
The City of Athens is working on Floodplain. and Zoning mapping.
 
E-911 is planning for how to best implement the State of Ohio
LBRS guidelines for Athens County.
 
Tuppers Plains Water District is working on publishing their maps
with ESRI "Publisher".
 
The County Engineer has partnered with Hocking College GIS to
locate One-Mile Section Monuments and use GPS to map the
monuments.
 
The County Planner is working on the new Flood Plain maps.
 
Jeff Smith from OGRIP gave a presentation on a new Statewide GIS
Cadastral layer designed by OGRIP for the Treasurer for querying
various criteria in order for developers to isolate available
properties that are for sale and meet the desired criteria.
Their main task presently is to come up with a standard format.
Licking and Crawford Counties comprise a pilot project for
testing and evaluating the system.  Such a system was envisioned
in 2002 and documented in our widely published and distributed
GIS Progress Report.  It is great to see such a system being
envisioned and developed by our State Treasurer and OGRIP.
 
Jeff reported that the ILGARD OSIP Imagery project has been
placed on hold.  However he says there may be a "Phase II"
project in the future incorporating lessons learned in the
current Phase I project.
 
We appreciate Jeff coming to Athens to provide us with the
current GIS thinking at the State level.  Thank you Jeff!
 
Dave, Matt, and I met with Cathy Bobo of the Athens County Soil
and Water Conservation Agency.  They have their aerial photos for
several decades already scanned and will soon receive the indexed
scans for their internal Agency use.
 
We also met with E-911.  ILGARD will assist the Office with
installation, and training on ESRI ArcGIS version 9.3.  They will
assist with O.U. Campus addressing.  E-911 will provide the newly
developed Corporation line maps for Athens County municipalities
to ILGARD for placement on the Athens County Enterprise Server
and ArcIMS GIS Website.  ILGARD will act as the clearinghouse
for this and all other County Data layers.
 
The next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held in the
ILGARD second floor conference room
at 10:00 A.M. on January 15, 2009.
