Compensation

Veterans who are disabled by injury or disease incurred or aggravated during service (in the line of duty for both war and peacetime periods) qualify. You may also request reevaluation any time that the condition worsens. It is important that you file the claim as soon as possible after release from active duty, but no matter how long ago it occurred, you should file a claim to protect your benefits and those of your family.

Veterans rated at 30% or greater are entitled to additional allowances for dependents.

There is no difference in the amount of money received for compensation by veterans of either peacetime or wartime service.

Claims for disabilities that manifest after the service should be filed immediately after diagnosis, so that the presumptive period for service connection is not exceeded.
