How To Get Help

The Athens Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society serves clients in the Athens County and City areas. Those in need of food assistance should dial 1-800-338-4484. The operator may forward the request to volunteers from St. Vincent de Paul if the client is in our service area. The volunteers will get back to the family to verify address, number of people, etc. Then they will make the food delivery. The food package is intended to feed a family for several days. Deliveries are generally made weekday afternoons/evenings. Emergency food assistance is intended to be a "stop-gap" measure and, except in extreme cases, is limited to one assist in any 8-week period. The needy people may also be referred to another area pantry if they have transportation.
