MEETING MINUTES
from March 28th - We generated lots of great ideas at our first meeting and agreed to have a few things in place soon:
- Heather Schnell will try to set up a web page for our group and will report to us on the progress at the next meeting.
- Mary Ellen Chamberlain will type up a phone list of group members and distribute at next meeting.
- We all agreed to include a 'show and tell' time in each meeting for sharing new projects (i.e. questions and ideas) with each other.
- Sherry Weaver has joined the TGKA (Knitters Guild) and will report on current happenings from them. As a member, she also has access to knitting video rentals, and we agreed that we would like to view some of the videos together during meeting time.
- Mary Ellen mentioned that she will purchase the Elizabeth Zimmerman Knitting Dictionary video to share during meetings.
- We have discussed having special projects or presentations for future meetings and decided to try to report on the Columbus Fiber Guild's meeting on yoga for fibercrafters at the April meeting.
- Linda Cochran agreed to teach us the yoga moves if we find out what the names are.
- Attendance: Heather Schnell, Mary Brennan, Sherry Weaver, Linda Cochran, Mary Ellen Chamberlain
from April 25th - We followed up on some of the ideas generated from last month's meeting:
- Heather Schnell created the web page for the Athens County Knitting Group. As a non-profit organization, our group can receive free web space via SEORF, so this is where our account is. To get more information on designing the page, see Mary Ellen. Our website is up and running at www.seorf.ohiou.edu/~knit (as you know if you have reached this page).
- We talked about the projects we are currently working on and viewed each other's work.
- Mary Ellen Chamberlain presented the Elizabeth Zimmerman Knitting Dictionary video and will show sections of it during the next meeting.
- We perused newsletters from the Columbus Fiber Guild and Marietta's guild to brainstorm possibilities for our group as well as travel opportunities to visit the other guilds.
- Attendance: Mary Ellen Chamberlain, Laurie Lovell, Rosellyn Rudolph, Heather Schnell

Mary Ellen showed everyone the new yarn she is spinning and is now for sale in her shop Main Street Fibers. It is called Curly Mohair and is spun from beautiful kid mohair to look like a goat kid! It knits up nicely for blankets, hats and sweaters.
Lori shared her brochure for Convergence '98--a week of fiber workshops with the best instructors in the business in Atlanta. Call Main Street Fibers for details: 662-1100.
Sherry will be attending a Knitters Guild workshop in Columbus in June.
We discussed the new knitting acquisitions at the Athens Library including the new MinnowKnits book.
Sherry read to us about knitting instruction kits available for rental through guild which we will consider working on together in the fall.
Attendance: Danette Pratt, Linda Ross, Lori Lovell, Sherry Weaver, Heather Schnell, Mary Ellen Chamberlain
June 27
We had a loose meeting this month because the Sheep to Shawl demonstration was going on at the shop all day. Several Knitters stopped by at different times in the day. We will meet again on July 25th to catch up on everything and also to bid farewell to three of our members who are moving: Linda Ross (temporary move), Lori Lovell, and Heather Schnell. We will miss them! Please come to the July Meeting to help send them off!
