My main hobby is reading, and I enjoy mysteries (especially Dick Francis, Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Dorothy Gilman, Del Shannon) adventure/thrillers (Ken Follett, Robert Ludlum), and the regency romances of Georgette Heyer.
Heyer is my favorite author: she is credited with inventing the regency genre, and is acclaimed for her meticulous research and resultant historical accuracy, and her wit. She is, in fact, the only author I have read that actually makes me laugh out loud! Her works rise far above the bulk of light reading that passes for regency romance today.
Not knowing other Heyerites outside my own family, I was delighted to find Sally Houghton's beautifully designed and extensive Georgette Heyer Homepage on the web, with links to many other related sites. At this time there are links to a quotation quiz (the Heyer Challenge) from GH works, regency cant, regency clothing, synopses of many of her books, and many other fascinating sites. There is also a mail list wonderfully maintained by Eileen Kendall for fans of GH and instructions for joining are outlined.
