Date of Birth: September 1993

“He’s a keeper!” That’s what Shelton’s foster mother has to say about him. Shelton is a loveable and friendly teen who thrives on adult attention. He also loves horses, country music, Hot Wheels, remote control cars and can keep himself occupied for hours with them. He loves French fries and doesn’t like vegetables but will try them with encouragement. When asked what she likes about him, Shelton’s current foster mother replied “everything.” His foster family does not adopt, however, and we are seeking a permanent family for Shelton.

Shelton values people more than material possessions and says that his adoptive family wouldn’t have to have a lot of money. As long as they are kind to him, pay attention to him and do activities with him, he says he would be happy. Shelton really wants to be adopted and is very clear about why he can’t live with his birth family.

Shelton has an IEP at school. Currently, he does well behaviorally in the foster home, at school and on the bus. He takes medication to help him manage his behavior. Shelton is emotionally a lot younger than his chronological age. He has siblings with whom he would like to stay in contact. Shelton is in counseling and would need to continue. He is in the permanent custody of Athens County Children Services and is currently available for adoption. Subsidies are available.
