Our Enterprise GIS Steering Committee met:
 
Dave and I are in discussions to decide our next projects.
ILGARD is working with LeAx planning a pilot project for
digitizing their unmapped water lines, and using GPS to locate
existing meters, etc.
 
Matt is working with the City of Athens on their Zoning Map.
 
Joe Fabini from Facilities Management attended and indicated they
were working on their flood plain model application to show
extent of flooding on Campus by plugging in specific elevations.
 
Paul Logue, Athens City needs ArcView 9.3 and will pick it up
this afternoon at the Engineer office.  I have emailed to Paul an
authorization code to activate the software.
 
Ken indicated that the Auditor's Office continues to make updates
to the parcel layer and with Ben is making grid changes and
involving Janet in a Land Use Layer.
 
Ben asked about LBRS from last meeting.  I indicated that we had
received no feedback on interest or available funding from anyone
and so for now, we would not be sponsoring an LBRS project.
The cost to Athens County would be about $270,000.00.  ODOT and
other agencies will provide about $95,000, leaving about $175,000
to be met by local dollars.  The benefits for going to an LBRS
are good, but the cost is more that we can justify.
 
Bob says the County has received new preliminary flood plain maps
from FEMA.  The are based upon our 5 feet contour data.
The maps have our new orthophotos as the base layer.
 
I have started discussions with Cathy Bobo to possibly scan and
post their aerial photos from past decades on our ArcIMS web
site.
 
If ILGARD receives a project from the State to update voting
precinct maps for census purposes, we may use a pilot project
to place the new maps on our ArcIMS website.
 
John is working with Hocking College to partner with their GIS
classes to accomplish some GPS work for the Engineer's Office
project of locating the One-Mile Section Corner monuments.
This will be great experience for the students and get
additional work accomplished on this important project.
 
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held
November 20, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.
