                        Re: October/November GIS Progress Report
Commissioners:
 
ILGARD continues to work on the migration of our GIS system from
ArcInfo Coverage to SDE Enterprise Geodatabase format.
 
Ken Highland is now maintaining all property splits directly to
the main database.  Ken is currently doing this work over at
ILGARD, but soon he should be set up to do the splits right
from his office.
 
The City of Athens will move their entire GIS onto our County
main server, and ILGARD will maintain the City GIS along side of
our County GIS and continue to serve it out to our citizens,
as well as to the rest of the world, on the Internet.
 
Mark Hall, City of Nelsonville is interested in becoming involved
in our GIS.  We will invite him to attend our Steering and
Technical User's committee meetings.
 
We hope to have all operating GIS databases from all agencies in
the County eventually operating from our Enterprise System on our
County server and software.  We have several available excellent
data layers that may be displayed, printed, or downloaded from
the AthenGIS.com website.  Seeing is believing - anyone who wants
to know what we have accomplished or what is available needs only
to "click" in.  We have arranged to receive new Countywide aerial
photography data through a statewide project in 2008.
 
Our next GIS Technical User's Committee meeting will be held
December 21, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held
January 18, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.
