Commissioners:

Our GIS Steering Committee met. Presentations were made by Darren
Cohen and Scott Snider on the Facilities Management Web Server, and
County Parcel Splits Procedure.

Sanborn Colorado will submit contract amendments for adding a small
strip of orthophoto and elevation contour data to the northern
boundary of Trimble Township, and to update the data for the new
U.S. 33 Athens to Darwin highway.

ILGARD has submitted their proposal to the Auditor's Office to create
a website that will allow on-line users access to the full CAMA
database. They will also submit a proposal to the Athens County
Engineer for developing a continuously updated County Highway Map.

The Auditor's Office Real Estate computer has been down a lot over the
past two months. As a result, the upgrade to CLT 4.0 is now
anticipated in April 2004. Janet, Miles, and Ken attended the recent
ILGARD GIS ArcView class. Splits are 90% accomplished with an
anticipated March 2004 completion.

O.U. Facilities Management Office continues to update their Campus
data, work with ILGARD on development of the Facilities Management
utility web server, and a Campus Space Management Application.

Charles Hart, O.U. Office of Environmental Health and Safety is
interested in placing several sets of legacy data into a GIS mapping
application. And also develop modeling and plume analysis capability.
ILGARD will look at the legacy datasets and determine the initial
direction for Environmental Health and Safety to proceed.

ILGARD may soon be working with Ohio EPA to conduct Air Quality
modeling in conjunction with the OEPA Blackburn Road Air Quality
Monitoring Station. ILGARD is now routinely emphasizing the benefits
of using GIS techniques in all program development proposals.

ILGARD recently worked with the Emergency Communications (E-911)
Office to repair a corrupted Shapefile in their E-911 Mapping System.
The most recently updated countywide structure file was also placed on
our GIS website data download page.

The consultant that is working with the City of Nelsonville on their
Comprehensive Plan has expressed their compliments regarding our on-
line GIS data. Their words were that our GIS is "leaps and bounds"
above most other counties.

Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be January 15th
at 10:00 A.M., in the ILGARD conference room.

Thank you for allowing me to coordinate this important aspect of
Athens County's future.
