                            Re:  April/May GIS Progress Report
Commissioners:
 
Our GIS Technical Users Committee met:  The local office of the
Wayne National Forest presented their experience of migration of
their GIS format to Spatial Database Engine (SDE) software.
They use an Oracle database and have been using SDE for
2.5 years.  They recommend an early start on design strategy
as we plan our migration to SDE.
 
Our GIS Steering Committee met:  The City is happy with progress
by ILGARD on their GIS.  Development of a zoning /Corp Line layer
is underway.  Darren is happy with the ESRI SDE Training Class he
recently attended.  Darren made a presentation of our pilot
Cemetery Project.  Scott Dunfee explained our County Parcel
Maintenance Application.
 
Our AVL Committee met:  Eric updated us on getting new
frequencies.  SEOEMS Board of Trustees approved $50,000 to
proceed with AVL and specifically with a Pilot Project with
Athens County.  A waiver has been requested from FCC to use
private frequencies since the public safety frequencies assigned
did not work with our filtering strategy.  Steve prepared
estimates for use in budgeting for the new UHF transition for
AVL.  Jill reported that Homeland Security has $46,000 available
if approved by the homeland security committee.
 
Darren and I met with the Auditor's staff.
The Auditor's Office will:
 
* Work to complete Athens Township data errors to get the
  parcels updated
* Provide CAMA data to Darren by the 25th of each month to
  update the GIS data.
* Use an FTP site to make efficient data transfers between
  Dave and Darren.
 
Our next GIS Technical User's Committee meeting will be held
June 15, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held
September 21, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.
NO Steering Committee meeting in July.
