Commissioners:

Our Enterprise GIS Steering Committee met:

ODOT representatives and Ron Cramer from DDTI, Inc. attended the
meeting and discussed the advantages of the State Of Ohio Location
Based Response System (LBRS) when implemented in counties. The cost
to Athens County would be about $270,000.00. ODOT and other agencies
will provide about $95,000, leaving about $175,000 to be met by local
dollars. Another source might eventually be funding from a 32 cent
fee on each cell phone bill once a county implements a Phase 2 cell
phone system. The benefits for going to an LBRS are numerous,
but so is the cost.
Additional Information on LBRS

Ken and Ben are providing monthly County Auditor parcel updates
for Darren to place on our ArcIMS website.
Darren said the system is working well.

Darren will soon begin our Trimble Township Cemetery
GIS Project for their Maplewood Cemetery.

Dave updated us on progress of the LeAx GIS and a new pilot
project for placing attributes on a small section of their
water line system.

Darren has figured out how the Athens County Recorder computerized
deed system may be linked to our GIS site and will be meeting with
the Recorder to see about making the necessary links.

Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held
September 18, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.

Sincerely,

Archie Stanley - GIS Coordinator
