ILGARD and I met twice with LeAx Water District.  We discussed the
next phase of the LeAx GIS development.  We will meet again later in
the month at the LeAx facility to place ArcGIS 9.2 ArcView software
onto their computer.  We will examine their new "Tough Book" notebook
computer /GPS unit to see how it may be used as a field input device
for locating hydrants and water meters, and then the data transferred
to the main computer and added to their existing database; and what
software will be required to run on the notebook computer.  LeAx wants
to eventually tie the GIS to a work order system.  LeAx may order two
GPS units for use in the data collection.  LeAx will put together an
attribute list for the materials they normally use and will draft a
rough Work Order form.  ILGARD will place some reference points (water
tank/towers, and pressure reduction/increasing units) prominently on
the scans so that LeAx employees may use for quick location of a line
in question.
 
We will sponsor a LeAx Pilot Project this Fall and have a student
begin to collect the needed data and train employees on the field
collection device and main GIS computer software.
 
Our next GIS Technical User's Committee meeting will be held
October 18, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.

November 15, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the ILGARD conference room.
