                                   RE: Monthly GIS Progress Report
Commissioners:
 
Digitizing of our Soils Layer is complete. Arcs and labels may be
provided if as needed. Editing work is scheduled for completion next
month.
 
The County Planning Office is coordinating three Natural Hazards
Programs.  Current work is focusing upon identifying structures by
Hazard Zone.  Bob has acquired a laptop for field work and reports
that GIS has made his job much more efficient, effective, thorough,
and accurate.  He reports that he receives completely positive
comments regarding GIS capabilities.  Bob asked that we work to
develop a countywide GIS layer of building footprints.  I will soon
receive an estimate for Sanborn Colorado to do this digitizing work.
 
ILGARD has completed our list of available data layers and is working
on completing the metadata for each layer.  These data layers will be
placed on our GIS website as available downloads.  ANYONE HAVING
DATA LAYERS THAT MAY BE ADDED TO THE LIST SHOULD CONTACT DARREN AT
597-1753.  Our new website is almost complete.  We will receive a
presentation of the prototype at the next GIS Steering Committee
meeting.  A presentation on Geodatabase concepts will be presented at
a future GIS Steering Committee meeting.
 
The Auditor's Office has linked their real estate computers to their
GIS server.  They are working to get the remaining backlog of splits
to ILGARD for updating the Parcel Layer.
 
Facilities Management continues to update their campus data with new
changes that have occurred.  ILGARD is developing an ArcIMS website
for publishing their data.
 
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be
September 18th at 10:00 A.M., in the ILGARD conference room.
