RE: Monthly GIS Progress Report
Commissioners:
A progress report from Sanborn Colorado on our
orthophoto/elevation contours project is included with this
report. We have received a sample of our orthos and topo data
and they are fantastic! A quick comparison with our 1996 orthos
confirm an improvement in contrast and resolution even better
than we expected.
ILGARD progress continues on our Parcel Conversion Project.
They are hard-coding annotation. We hope, subject to funding
availability, to develop an automated system for quickly and
easily producing Parcel Section Maps in our traditional format.
This is a feature that the Auditor's Office anticipates will be
very important to citizens throughout the coming years as we
transition to our GIS electronic mapping of parcels.
ILGARD is now offering an ArcView class.
Bob reports that the County Planning Office floodplain mailing
list is ready to send out.
Facilities Planning is utilizing GIS in their Airport Expansion
Project; developing a library of Ohio University easements;
adding elevation data for their branch campuses, the Mill Street
access road project; and in the Corps of Engineers floodplain
mapping project.
Our next GIS Steering Committee meeting will be held
September 19, 2002, 10:30 A.M., at the ILGARD conference room.

Sanborn Colorado Project Status Report
Project Name: Athens County Orthophotography & Contour Project

Reporting Period: June 16 - July 26, 2002

The following report summarizes project activities completed over
the past four weeks and planned over the next similar time
period. It also contains information regarding important issues,
procedures, action items, and goals associated with this pro
ject. Please contact Karen Adkins at Sanborn if you have any
questions or comments regarding the information in this report or
the progress of the project.
Major Activities Completed:
Pilot contours and orthoimagery shipped to Athens County
on 6/27/02.
Aerial Triangulation report shipped to Athens County
on 6/27/02.
Pilot contours and orthoimagery formally deemed acceptable
by Archie Stanley on 7/18/02.
Project Status:
The pilot project was reviewed by Athens Co. and an independent
consultant and found to be without error. A formal pilot review
will be conducted in Athens on 7/31/02.
Compilation has not begun for the project as of 7/21/02 and is
expected to be delayed until early August. This is not expected
to impact the overall project schedule at this time, as interim
delivery dates have not yet been outlined. This will be
discussed with Archie Stanley during the Pilot Review discussion.

Archie Stanley has provided approval of index grid
modifications, priority areas, and database design.
Requested Action Items:
Begin compilation of the project DTM at earliest possible
date.
Major Activities Planned for Next Period

Begin compilation of Area 1 DTM.
Process Area 1 DTM for ortho and contour production.
